This
once-in-a-lifetime trip is truly an experience for the adventurer looking
to view, photograph and admire North America's most magnificent big game
animal - the grizzly bear. We'll have the opportunity to observe grizzlies
in their natural habitat, and bring home photos that will become a great
reminder of your experience.
From our comfortable camp (one that we've made bear resistant by surrounding with an electric fence), we spend 3 full days searching for bears. Whether we're viewing 20 different bruins feeding on sedges along the Lake Clark coast, watching them roam the tundra near Moraine Creek in Katmai, or admiring a large grizzly bear catching spawning Sockeye Salmon at the world famous Brooks Falls, these venues are some of the most spectacular, remote, and pristine areas in southwest Alaska to view these majestic creatures. $2,900

This
is a spectacular float trip down ANWR’s Kongakut River. The Arctic National
Wildlife Refuge is simply one of the least visited and remote areas left in
North America and, despite the media attention it receives, it offers the
opportunity for unparalleled exploratory adventure. Our schedule on the Kongakut
and our 10 full days in the refuge will allow us ample opportunities to hike,
fish, photograph and savor this phenomenal ecosystem.
Caribou, polar bears, grizzlies and muskoxen wander the north slope of the Brooks Range and the highest concentration of nesting golden eagles in Alaska make the Kongakut River corridor their summer home. The river itself is spectacular as it carves its way through mountain gorges of rock and tundra. The water runs fast, clear and cold from its headwaters on the north slope of the Brooks Range to the Beaufort Sea. We’ll camp on river bars and spend our layover days (4 in all) hiking, wildlife viewing, exploring, photographing, relaxing and digesting the solitude in this vast and remote wilderness.
Come with us and visit a place where the mountains are still nameless. $3,995

A
Cessna floatplane takes us north into the heart of Lake Clark National
Park for an amazing Alaskan wilderness backpacking trip. Arriving at
Turquoise Lake, we will be greeted by one of the most spectacular views
Alaska has to offer. We will stand in awe as 6000' of vertical relief
towers above and to the east of our first camp, and to the west endless
sweeps of tundra will beckon the hiker inside all of us. This glacial
lake, nestled beneath the Alaska Range, offers some of the best hiking,
wildlife viewing and bird watching in the Park, and remains one of our
favorite places to explore.
Whether we stand beneath 2000' waterfalls, walk on moving glaciers, or listen to the raw wilderness being shaped all around us, you will be mystified. Your sense of scale will most certainly be warped by the grandeur, and you'll forever carry that feeling with you. $2,700

It wouldn't be a complete season if we didn't offer our favorite adventure! The secret alpine basin we will be exploring has seen very little visitation and remains one of our favorite places to roam. Kontrashibuna Lake, or 'special K' as we like to call it, is definitely one of the most beautiful lakes in Lake Clark National Park. Paddling this body of water is exhilarating and breathtaking.
At an elevation of 459 feet Kontrashibuna Lake winds its way through Chigmit Mountain peaks that tower 4500 vertical feet above its crystal clear azure waters. If you like to fish, bring the rod and reel on this trip as we know of a few "honey holes" along the way.
The remainder of the trip will go by all too quickly as we explore Gladiator Basin, a spectacular U-shaped valley in the heart of the Chigmits, a mountain range many have referred to as the 'Alaskan Alps'. We will spend the next 5 nights and days exploring this magnificent portion of the Park. $2,400

There
are many places in Alaska that few people have seen from the ground,
and there are places few have seen even from the air. The Revelation
Range is one such place, a mountain range so rugged and remote, it has
been avoided by all but an intrepid few. It is home to some of the world's
tallest granite walls, likely to have seen only a hand full of mountaineering
parties, and fewer successful ascents. This is the quintessential alpine
playground for those who thrive on visiting truly remote and beautiful
places.
To our knowledge, our guides are the only ones offering backpacking trips into this part of Alaska. This trip is designed to be both personalized and educational, you will come away from this adventure as a knowledgeable and skilled wilderness explorer, never again to be bound to the trails and sidewalks that make some wilderness areas seem so artificial. $3,500

Join
senior guides for this amazing journey along one of the most remote
and stunning coastlines in North America. Our 10-day kayaking adventure
along the coast will take us along 50 miles of this spectacular shore – from
Kukak Bay to Geographic Harbor. Our route will take us around a complex
of narrow fjords, islands and sea stack bays, sandy beaches, deep river
valleys, and rocky headlands. Views of active volcanoes and Kodiak Island
will be the backdrop of our panorama as we glide through this complex ecosystem.
Katmai’s rugged beaches are home to some of the largest Brown Bear concentrations in the world and its waters and shores support some of the richest marine life in the Pacific. Birds of prey patrol the beaches, whales and porpoises frolic in the clear pacific and thousands of salmon spawn in many of the park’s rivers. Katmai holds within its borders 15 active volcanoes, more than any park in the world. A truly unique Alaska adventure. $3,300
