Midnight Sun Adventures is proud to offer this classic trek through one of the most fascinating countries in the world.

art and mountain peak, Nepal

For almost half a century Nepal has embodied the heart of adventure travel. After several years of civil unrest the political situation in Nepal has finally begun to settle in democratic fashion and the opportunities for exploration abound.  Surrounded by the greatest heights of the Himalaya, the kingdom of Nepal is a place where one visit is hardly ever enough.

It's a land of colorful cultures, ancient history and people, superb scenery and some of the best walking on earth.

THE ABODE OF SNOWS

"The abode of snows," which is what Himalaya means in Sanskrit, is a natural wonderland and a magnet to mountaineers from all above the world. You don't have to be a Sherpa or Sir Edmund Hillary in order for you to get in amongst these great mountains. With a sense of adventure and a modicum of fitness most travelers can walk the trails that lead into the roadless heights of the Himalaya.

temple in Nepal

In Nepal one trek is rarely enough, and many visitors find themselves planning to return. Fascinating ancient towns, magnificent temples and great walking are not all Nepal has to offer. Many visitors come to Nepal expecting to find these things and in addition discover how outstanding and and friendly the Nepalese people are.

THRONE ROOM OF THE GODS

The Annapurna Sanctuary Route, known as the entrance to the 'throne room of the gods', is one of the most remarkable places on earth. A massive mountain amphitheater of rocks and ice, with celestial summits ascending into a brilliant blue sky form the "sanctuary."

North of Pokhara, Nepal's spectacular diversity appears at its finest. The deep valleys and high mountains encircling the giant Annapurna Himal (mountain) embrace a wide range of peoples and terrain, from subtropical jungle to a high, dry landscape resembling the Tibetan plateau.

CHANGING PERSPECTIVES

We traverse a variety of this terrain, from lowland villages and their rice terraces, to glaciers offering the most outstanding views of majestic mountains including: Gangapurna, Glacier Dome, Fang, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri & the Annapurnas.

The hiking part of the trek commences from Pokhara traveling through Gurung & Thakali villages surrounded by beautiful rhododendron forests containing thrilling views of the high mountain ranges.

From Chommorong we ascend to two Base Camps and a small taste of what brings mountaineers by the thousands to the Himalayas.   Then we descend to Ghandruk & Chommorong taking a different route back to Pokhara. The glaciers, soaring peaks, and an eerie atmosphere create an unparalleled mountain experience.

MAGIC CITIES

Pokhara, where our hike begins and ends, is part of a once vibrant trade route extending between India and Tibet. To this day, mule trains can be seen camped on the outskirts of the town, bringing goods to trade from remote regions of the Himalaya. This is the land of Magars and Gurungs, hardworking farmers and valiant warriors who have earned worldwide fame as Gurkha soldiers.

The magnificent Annapurna panorama that's visible on the northern skyline of Pokhara is quite incredible. The serenity of the lakes and the magnificence of the Himalayas rising behind them create an ambience of peace and magic.

Our arrival and departure from Nepal brings us through Kathmandu. Kathmandu Valley with its thousands of Hindu temples, Buddhist stupas, stunning architecture and rich pageantry can be quite beyond words. Kathmandu offers you as exotic an urban experience as you can get.

This is the place where kingdoms rose and fell, palaces and temples were built and rebuilt, art and cultures are refined and protected. Kathmandu city is the largest in Nepal and is surrounded by green hills, the perfect opening and closure for our adventure.
